Check the phone’s body

First remove any cases, protector from the phone and clean it with dry cloth.
now , Inspect the phone thoroughly to make sure that it has no cracks, scratches, breaks and stains on it.
Inspect the headphone’s Jack using a torch. Have a look at the bottom of the Jack. If it is red that it means the phone has been exposed to water.

Get  the serial number and check the warranty status.
Don’t forget to ask about the bill and warranty card.

Network Settings

Eject older and insert your sim card.
Check if you make a phone call and talk to a person for a minute. check if the person can hear your wife properly.
Try connecting to a wi-fi and 2g network to make sure that you can access it properly.
If the phone is not unlocked, it is likely to have the two problems. so test the phone in the basement or lift or in a train.
Text someone and tell the person to reply.

Speaker and sound test

Put your phone on the vibration, silent, cringing mode. test is it works properly.
Play a sound and enable speaker mode to check if the speaker works fine.
Call someone and put your phone with the speaker more on.
Test the earphones which will help to identify either bad headphones or bad port.

Pinch and zoom pictures few times to test the digitizer.
Rotate the phone a few times to test accelerometer.

There are 2 ways to take screen shots, first way is to use any of the free app available on android market. Another easiest way is to do using default setting present in Samsung galaxy s3. Samsung galaxy S3 comes with ICS: Ice Cream Sandwich which features default print screen feature.

Method is called Palm Swipe. For using this method, you need to make small change in settings.
Just -Go to Menu->Settings->Motion settings on your Galaxy S3.
-Under Hand Motion settings, check Palm swipe to Capture check box & its done.

Now whenever you want to capture a screen shot just, swipe on your screen using your palm.
