Karbonn's low budget android phone A9 was a sensation & many of you must have bought the A9 in past few months. There are many companies which are currently working on cheapest android phones. Karbonn is one of those & trying to establish itself as affordable brand. Karbonn is aggressively advertising A9 as new competitor to the other android phones, specially the low prices Samsung android phones. You might have seen Karbonn A9 's ads during the IPL.
But After few month users are coming up with new problems.

That'st the most problem reported by users. It is likely to get blank while picking up a call or while starting any application. Almost all android have this problem including Samsung Galaxy S2. But the occurrence of this problem in Karbonn A9 is very prominent.

Opening multiple applications can make ur cellphone go crazy & hang. To avoid this, make sure you close all other apps before starting a new app. Avoid very heavy apps & avoid apps with lots of data communication.

After browsing & calling , some people have reported overheating of Karbonn A9. Heating is common in  every phone. To avoid radiation, please use headphone so you can keep your hot phone away from your head & ear.

I am using karbonn A9 from past week & there are some significant advantages & disadvantages of this phone. Overall A9 is a great phone to have at low price which is just Rs. 8590/-

Karbonn A9 Pros:

- Camera of 5MP produces great pictures, even in the dark. You can record video with the flash on in the dark. Quality is decent.
- Front camera is good to have.
- Processor 1GHz. It has decent speed
- Loaded with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) which is the most stable OS. Many software/apps to download from Google Play Apps. Plays Adobe flash, pdf, Office, Hindi text, Siri, Voice assistant.
- Flashlight
- Screen resolution and body quality is good.
- Tethering, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth works fine.
- Has Accelerometer.
- GPS Maps

Karbonn A9 Cons:

- Battery, though 1600mah (larger than most Smartphones in the market), is still weak to support features. It drains out within 7-8 hours..I guess that is with every phone.
- PC suite, manuals, Phone accessories (such as Scratch Gurad, Case, Cover, etc) are not available yet..
- Display goes blank when calling or receiving calls. You have to press power button to wake up the screen. (After investigating, I found, this problem exist in almost all smartphones). May need to install Screebl.
- No Gyroscope. Compass will not work..
- Sound quality is fair (could have been better & louder), but sometimes it seems Mono when loud, due to speakers at the back of handset.
- Qwerty keypad during calls & SMS does not rotate to landscape by default...Need to install Go SMS & other Go Apps to make it work.
- Available only in White color.
- Few service centers.

Karbonn A9 Price

Overall, its a great buy. It blows off all the phones in the market with the similar specs.specially in Price,Any other phone with this spec would cost around 14k-15k. But this one comes for Rs. 8999 from Infibeam. Adexmart show Rs. 8590 but is out of stock there.

I would recommend everyone who wants to buy this phone. Yes..it is not branded like Nokia, Samsumg, HTC, but looks like a solid phone having acceptable quality & performance. I am sure Karbonn will try to improve their support and will give tough competition to other phones..just like Micromax already has..

Display of Karbonn A9

It has a multi-touch capacitive touchscreen which is of size 3.8 inch which is decent. The display quality is quite impressive. It supports resolution of 480 x 800 pixels at approx 245 ppi.

A9 Processor & OS

It runs on the most widely used OS: android Gingerbread v.2.3. It does supports multitasking & 1GHz processor is enough to take care of all you running applications. Memory can be expandable upto 32GB using the microSD card.

Camera: Image & video

This phone is winner when it comes to the camera. The A9 has two cameras, a front facing VGA that can be used for video calling and a primary shooter, of 5 MP resolution. You can click still pictures or record videos. There is built in flash in Karbonn A9 that helps in getting a better pics in low light or at nights. It even has a panorama feature.

Battery

This A9 smart phone comes with a 1600 mAh battery. The battery is decent with an expected standby time of up to 200 hours. It has about 4 hours of talk time which can be one of its cons.

Verdict

Karbonn A9 is great phone to have & it has got so many features compared to the Samsung Y phones which comes with same price. 1 GHz processor, 5MP camera & 3.8 inch display are major features which will surely attract buyers.
